2013年5月、国東半島宇佐地域（ 豊後高田市・杵築市・宇佐市・国東市・姫島村・日出町） が、世界農業遺産に認定された。
評価のポイントは先人たちが険しい山を切り拓いて築いた「クヌギ林」と「ため池」。
森から里、海へと巡る、水の循環。
これを生かすことが、暮らしを豊かにする。
先人たちは、長い時間をかけ、自然との対話から答えを導き出し、形にした。
21世紀の現在まで受け継がれてきた "自然と人との共生の物語" をここに暮らす人々の言菓から辿っていく。
